Dear Ingersoll IDCI Alumni,

On a recent visit “Back Home” to Ingersoll, I reconnected with two friends who are pillars of our community—Al Lockhart and Paul Henderson—both of whom are deeply engaged in giving back to our hometown.

As I grow older and perhaps a bit wiser, I feel a profound “Calling” not only to support charities in my current community of Calgary but, more importantly, to give back to the community that shaped me: Ingersoll. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my parents and the community that nurtured me through my formative years.

We were fortunate to graduate from IDCI and for some to pursue post-secondary education and others to seek careers be it in Ingersoll or other locations. Although we may not have always
seen eye to eye with leaders like Jack Herbert and Currie Wilson back then, I now realize how much their leadership and mentorship, amongst others contributed to our success.

With this in mind, I have decided to shift part of my charitable donations to The Ingersoll Community Foundation (ICF) to honour the community that supported me. Among the programs ICF offers is the Financial Educational Assistance for Training and Scholarship (FEATS), which provides $10,000 per year for up to four years to individuals lacking the financial means to pursue higher education. This program resonates deeply with me, and I hope it will with you as well. And of particular importance it was Jack Herbert who first created the Ingersoll Community
Foundation through a most generous Estate Gift.

Today I am inviting the Ingersoll IDCI Alumni to join me in establishing funded scholarships for IDCI graduates, managed and administered by ICF. For every dollar donated, I will match dollar for dollar up to $20,000. Together, we can create a fully funded $40,000 scholarship, and my aspiration is to grow these donations to $100,000 over time. Supporting this scholarship is straightforward—every dollar counts. Donations will be directed to ICF, and you can choose to keep your contribution private or have it recognized publicly. ICF will
inform me of the total donated amount, which I will match, without disclosing individual contributions.

Please share this message with your Alumni network. We have the strength of our Ingersoll Alumni connections—let’s harness that power to make a difference.
To make a donation please go to https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/ingersoll-communityfoundation/impact/view/ and in the Donation form “Send a Message to the Charity” please note My Donation is for the FEATS Program and qualifies for the Matching offer by John Masters.

For your information ICF is a registered charity and you will receive a charitable tax receipt for your donation.
And 100% of our donations go directly to support the Scholarship initiative – The Foundation has no administration costs – they are all volunteers.

Warmest regards,
John W. Masters
A proud graduate of IDCI
